A clear progression route to EYT
In a ground breaking development, PBD and University Campus Suffolk (UCS) have agreed a joint pilot under which, from September 2014, early years staff who complete the Level 5 Diploma with PBD will be able to progress to the second year of the Foundation degree in Early Years Practice at UCS Ipswich .
PBD was the first provider to offer the new City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Leadership when it was released in April and has already signed up over 100 candidates for its programme, which was designed in conjunction with leading academic and author Dr Francisca Veale.
Ross Midgley, director of PBD, said: “We are delighted to be working with UCS. Last year’s Nutbrown Review identified the lack of progression opportunities for early years staff as a key problem. This unique collaboration creates a clear route all the way from level 2 through to Early Years Teacher Status.
Dr Erica Joslyn, Head of Division of Children, Young People and Education at UCS Ipswich, said: “We have been very impressed with the quality of PBD’s Level 5 delivery model and resources. PBD has designed a short module on higher level study skills to complement the Diploma and we are confident that students who complete these qualifications with PBD will demonstrate the high standards that we require.”
